<p>History of the Famous Scottsdale Art District<br />
Scottsdale has always been a mecca for artists from all over the country. Kathy Duley from the Scottsdale Art District will present the fascinating history of art in Scottsdale from a locally appreciated arts area to a worldwide renowned arts destination.<br />

<p>Scottsdale Public Art 100+ Journals Workshop. Visual Art Journaling: Diamonds in the West led by Cyndi Coon<br />
In this Visual Art Journaling participants will have the opportunity to learn new techniques, both two and three-dimensional. All participants will be given journaling prompts related to Scottsdale, 60 years and diamonds as ideas for creating each page.<br />

<p>SMOCA opening night<br />
Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art’s annual Summer Celebration opening party will allow visitors to see three new summer exhibitions, meet the artists &amp; architects, mingle with the curators and try your hand at some hands-on crafting workshops in conjunction with the &#8216;Crafting Community&#8217; and the new, L.A.-based flagship store &#8216;Splendid&#8217; (opening in Scottsdale Fashion Square).<br />

This Free concert features the best cowboy singers in Scottsdale, poets reciting comical cowboy poems and story tellers sharing stories about fun and quirky Scottsdale historical facts, the Verde Vaqueros, Scottsdale Charros and more.<br />

<p>Scottsdale Breakfast Birthday Bash and Mayor and Council Breakfast<br />
Party goers will enjoy a free breakfast buffet, visit with Mayor W.J. &#8220;Jim&#8221; Lane and City council, hear stories by Marshall Trimble, Arizona&#8217;s official historian, and see the unveiling of Scottsdale&#8217;s birthday cake created by Chef Tracy DeWitt, Food Network competitor and Le Cordon Bleu Scottsdale instructor. Entertainment will be provided by the Ms. Senior Arizona Performing Group and Gary Sprague, the City’s Singing Cowboy. Activities for kids will include vintage games like an obstacle course, rope a “horse”; bean bag toss and an egg relay. The Scottsdale Gem wall will also be on display.<br />

<p>The Pink Pony Rides Again!<br />
Scottsdale’s oldest restaurant (est. 1947) is honoring the past by hosting a display of photos and memorabilia on loan from the Scottsdale Historical Society. The Pink Pony will also be dedicating a dish weekly which will represent the Pony’s shared history with the city of Scottsdale throughout the decades. The recipes will be available to Pink Pony Patrons.<br />
